The 3rd module of the 1st level (basic) emergency medicine and intensive care course (EM13) will be held from 13th to 15th of September at the state-of-the-art ‘Portoni Rossi Veterinary Hospital’ in Zola Predosa (Bologna, Italy).
The three-day course will deal with the care of the patient in High Dependency Unit (HDU). Respiratory physiology, pulmonary gas exchange, arterial blood gas analysis, and electrolyte and metabolic imbalance will be main topics. In addition, contribution of cardiac output, arterial pressure and systemic vascular resistance to regional perfusion will be addressed, and risk factors for SIRS and MODS intruduced.
